The design for this doghouse flows from the nautical history of the Labrador Retriever. Fishermen relied upon the Labrador's strong shoulders and webbed paws to help pull full nets of fish onto their boats. This doghouse is an abstracted boat. The waves painted on the hull and the fish scale shingles of the cabin recall the sea. Such elements as the portals, the ramp, and the mast elicit the features of larger ships, for people.
